Wajib pakai 2 gelang

Makkah: Buat julung kali pada musim haji tahun ini, Kementerian Haji Arab Saudi mewajibkan jemaah dari seluruh dunia memakai gelang pengenalan diri khas sebagai sebahagian langkah keselamatan lebih ketat.

Langkah terbaru itu bertujuan membezakan jemaah haji rasmi dengan mereka yang datang mengerjakan ibadat berkenaan tanpa mengikut saluran sah.

Berikutan itu, jemaah haji Malaysia perlu memakai dua gelang pengenalan diri selain Lencana Pengenalan Haji (LPH) dibekalkan Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) sepanjang berada di Tanah Suci.

 

Destinasi santai diri

Kuala Lumpur: Berkelah sambil berseronok bersama keluarga tercinta pada hujung minggu adalah antara aktiviti santai yang boleh dilakukan ramai terutama ibu bapa yang sibuk dengan tugasan pada hari bekerja.

Southeast Asia's largest architectural event ARCHIDEX 2017 kicks off at KLCC

KUALA LUMPUR: Southeast Asia's biggest annual architectural event, Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition (ARCHIDEX 2017) is targeting transactions of over RM1 billion this year.

This, according to event organizer Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM), is more or less the amount achieved during last year's event.

"We saw transactions amounting to almost RM1 billion during ARCHIDEX 2016, and given the upward trend of transactions year-on-year since we began this exhibition in 1999, we are quite confident of achieving over RM1 billion in transactions,” said its president, Ezumi Harzani Ismail.

Malaysia poised to become Asean, China economic corridor: Economist

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia, with its strong economic fundamentals and strategic geographical location, is expected to become an important economic corridor for ASEAN and China over the next five years, said IQI Group Holdings Chief Economist, Shan Saeed.

He said Malaysia’s economy which remained resilient despite global economic challenges, helped improve foreign investor confidence in the country.

M'sia targets Philippines to import more palm oil, rubber

KUALA LUMPUR: The Philippines is expected to buy more palm oil from Malaysia as exporters ramp up promotional activities with the Philippines International Trade Corp.

Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) data revealed, in 2016, exporters shipped 625,007 tonnes to the Philippines.

Authoritative journal Oil World estimated the Philippines bought around 950,000 tonnes of palm oil in 2016, of which two third were shipped over from Malaysia.

Palm oil is gaining global popularity as it is deemed as a nutritious food ingredient, and at the same time, an ideal option for clean and renewable energy.

Tense mood at KL High Court as 'Gang 360 suspects charged

KUALA LUMPUR: A tense atmosphere enveloped the High Court here this morning as 16 people, believed to be members of the notorious ‘Gang 360 Devan’, were charged with being part of an organised crime group.

Heavily-armed policemen, equipped with submachine guns, kept a watchful eye as about 100 people, believed to be family members of the accused, began gathering at the court complex as early as 8am to follow the proceedings.

However, the large crowd was not allowed to enter the courtroom, and could only watch the proceedings through a live broadcast via a large screen set up outside as the court.

Half a million Malaysians have Hepatitis C...but they don't know it yet

KUALA LUMPUR: It is estimated that about 500,000 Malaysians have Hepatitis C, but most of them are unaware of their infection, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.

Calling it a major challenge in the medical field, he said Hepatitis C incidence rates saw an increase from 3.71 per cent in 2009 to 8.57 in 2016.

"However, we must also be cognizant of the fact that the figures obtained from the Health Ministry may be an underestimation of the actual situation as not everyone who seeks treatment or go for executive screening will be offered tests for Hepatitis C."

Dr Subramaniam said the increased prevalence of chronic hepatitis would mean more and more people will end up with cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Makanan laut mahal gila!

Kuala Lumpur: Alasan bekalan kurang dan pemborong menetapkan harga menjadi ‘modal’ peniaga untuk menaikkan harga bahan mentah seperti ikan, udang, ketam dan sotong, sekali gus membebankan pengguna yang menanggung kos sara hidup semakin meningkat.

Malah, peniaga seolah-olah mempunyai alasan tersendiri menaikkan harga bahan mentah berkenaan apabila sebelum ini ia melambung akibat musim perayaan dan terkini mereka menyalahkan pula pemborong.

Ironinya tindakan mereka itu dilihat mahu mengekalkannya pada harga tinggi tanpa memikirkan kesan terhadap rantaian makanan lain yang kemungkinan turut menaikkan harga jualan masing-masing.

Jangan main soal mati!

Kuala Lumpur: Satu status di laman sosial yang mendakwa bayi lelaki tertelan pin tudung meninggal dunia jam 8 pagi semalam adalah tidak benar.

Sebaliknya mangsa, Muhammad Naufal Hakim yang berusia 10 bulan, berada dalam keadaan stabil di Wad Pediatrik Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL).

Jurucakap HKL berkata, berita menyatakan kanak-kanak terbabit meninggal dunia adalah palsu.

“Bayi berkenaan kini dirawat dan dipantau di wad kanak-kanak selepas dikeluarkan daripada unit rawatan rapi (ICU).

“Sebelum ini, bayi terbabit menjalani pembedahan pada Jumaat lalu bagi mengeluarkan pin tudung berkenaan,” katanya.

Tudung RM100,000 punah

Kuala Lumpur: “Luluh hati saya sebaik melihat semua tudung jualan bernilai hampir RM100,000 musnah dalam kebakaran,” luah seorang peniaga, Nur Sadiah Mustafa Kamal, 36.

Dalam kejadian jam 1 pagi semalam, tiga gerai jualan di Bazar Masjid India, di sini, hangus terbakar dalam kebakaran mendadak.

Nur Sadiah berkata, kebakaran itu turut memusnahkan beberapa dokumen penting di dalam kedai itu.

“Tiada apa yang dapat diselamatkan termasuk alatan menjahit dan barang jualannya. Saya hanya mampu termenung panjang melihat kedai saya musnah.
